Derek & Taylor
Oh. My. Word. Okay, I lied about favourite weddings, this is it. Lol, actually, I think every single one becomes my new favourite as soon as I shoot it, and this is no exception.
Taylor and Derek's day began in late afternoon, (hallelujah!) so the light was already perfect. Seriously, 4 pm in early September is a fantastic time to have photos done, just so y'know. The ceremony began at 5:30 with dinner at 7. Can it get any better?? Actually it can. I absolutely love a micro wedding, this one had a total of 35 guests. These smaller events are so intimate and couples really can focus their funds on the things that matter to them, and these two did it right! Gah! This 5 hour wedding was the epitome of gorgeous. If you've gotten your hands on a copy of the 2024 issue of my Amour magazine, you'll know how much I love the long table setting for its relaxed vibe and intimacy. Add to that the naked cutting cake, the vintage looking glasses, the elegant chargers and bottles of sparkling cider, how much more cozy, familiar and classy can you get.
When you're planning your wedding it can be tempting to go all out and splurge on extravagance. And if that's you, go for it, I will cheer you on the whole way! But for this couple, the things that mattered were the food, the decor, the setting and the company. Everything was simple, understated, moody, elegant and timeless. And when you have a backdrop like the one Taylor and Derek chose with those tall poplar trees and the green shrubbery, the cost of decorating is next to nothing. Totally the way to go.
This whole day was a fantastic example of how to put on a stunner of a wedding and not go broke in the meantime. I'll be talking about this one for a long time to come!
